Scattered storms will likely develop across northern portions of the area and/or move in from the west-northwest late this afternoon and evening. While coverage of storms is not expected to be widespread, any storms can be disruptive to outdoor activities with heavy rain and lightning. The environment will support some of storms that develop becoming severe, with damaging winds the severe weather concern.
We are getting closer to the end of our heatwave but have one more day of dangerously hot and humid conditions to end the week. Temperatures trend slightly less hot for Saturday, but it will still be abnormally warm and humid with peak heat index values well into the 90s to near 100 expected.

June 2026 temperatures averaged a little below normal and precipitation was near to below normal as well. All locations reached 90° or greater on the 30th of the month.
Summer heat will be in full swing this week! Remember to "Look Before You Lock" your vehicle to prevent heat-related deaths. Temperatures inside vehicles will very quickly exceed 100 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for children or animals left in cars.
