Toledo set an all-time record for January snowfall! They finished the month with 40.2 inches of snow which greatly exceeds the previous record of 30.8 inches set in 1978. Toledo also experienced the sixth coldest January on record with an average temperature of only 16.0 degrees.
Overall, January 2014 finished off with an average temperature that was 5 to 10 degrees below normal. Northern Ohio experienced above normal snowfall and northwest Pennsylvania had slightly below normal snowfall.
