Hurricane Isaias - August 3, 2020

Isaias tracked north-northeast off the GA and southern SC coasts on August 3, 2020 as a tropical storm before intensifying to a Category 1 hurricane about 50 miles east of Charleston, SC. The storm made its closest approach to our area when it passed by the mouth of the Santee River ~25 miles offshore. The storm mostly spared the GA Coastal Empire from significant impacts but did cause some minor impacts across portions of the SC Lowcountry from tropical storm force wind gusts, flooding rainfall and minor coastal flooding, especially northeast of Charleston. The area was once again spared more significant coastal flooding as the center of Isaias remained just offshore and the timing of the highest storm surge didn't coincide with the timing of the highest astronomical tides.
