Severe Thunderstorms in the Northeast and Northern Plains; Critical Fire Weather in the West

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and hail are forecast across the Northeast U.S. and North Dakota today. Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible over eastern New Mexico into western Texas and over the western Florida peninsula today. There has been an inch or more of snow on the ground at Caribou, Maine since November 10, 2018.  As of 2 am EDT Sunday morning, April 14, 2019, the snow depth at Caribou was 13 inches.  As of 8 am EDT this morning we will set a record for the most consecutive days with an inch or more of snow on the ground.  The old record of 155 days was set during the winter of 2002-2003.
