GEORGIA...
ON SEPTEMBER 7 THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE FRANCES PRODUCED A RASH OF
22 TORNADOES AFFECTING 12 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA.
SEVERAL COUNTIES HAD MULTIPLE TORNADOES. THERE WERE 12 INJURIES.
DAMAGE SURVEYS AND RELIABLE REPORTS REVEALED THE FOLLOWING TORNADO
CLASSIFICATIONS BY COUNTY ALONG WITH DAMAGE DESCRIPTIONS:
AIKEN COUNTY - 1 F0. TREES DOWN.
BAMBERG COUNTY - 1 F0. TREES AND POWER LINES DOWN.

CALHOUN COUNTY - 2 F0S. TREES AND POWER LINES DOWN.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY - 1 F1. DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES, BUSINESSES,
AND SCHOOL.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY - 1 F2. 2 MOBILE HOMES DESTROYED, MANY OTHERS
WITH SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. 5 INJURIES.

KERSHAW COUNTY - 1 F0. MINOR DAMAGE TO MOBILE HOMES. TREES AND POWER
LINES DOWN.
KERSHAW COUNTY - 1 F1. MODERATE DAMGE TO SEVERAL MOBILE HOMES AND
FRAMED HOUSES. 1 INJURY.
KERSHAW COUNTY - 1 F3. SEVERE DAMAGE TO BRICK HORSE STABLE. SEVERAL
OUT BUILDINGS DESTROYED. MANY HOUSES DAMAGED. TREES/POWER LINES DOWN.
LANCASTER COUNTY - 1 F1. BUILDING ON TURKEY FARM SEVERELY DAMAGED.
FEW OTHER HOMES/MOBILE HOMES HAD MODERATE DAMAGE.
LEE COUNTY - 1 F0. TREES/POWER LINES DOWN. MINOR MOBILE HOME DAMAGE.
LEE COUNTY - 1 F1. MODERATE DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES AND COTTON MILL.
ORANGEBURG COUNTY - 1 F0. RELIABLE REPORT OF TOUCHDOWN ON CANNON

RICHLAND COUNTY - 1 F0. TREES/POWER LINES DOWN.
RICHLAND COUNTY - 1 F1. MODERATE DAMAGE TO 22 HOMES AND STRUCTURES.
TREES/POWER LINES DOWN.
RICHLAND COUNTY - 1 F2. 3 MOBILE HOMES DESTROYED. SEVERAL OTHERS
DAMAGED. TREES/POWER LINES DOWN. 3 INJURIES.
SUMTER COUNTY - 1 F1. LIGHT/MODERATE DAMAGE TO HOMES/STRUCTURES.
TREES/POWER LINES DOWN.
SUMTER COUNTY. 1 F2. 55 HOMES DAMAGED, 9 DESTROYED. ABOUT 1.7
MILLION DAMAGE. 3 INJURIES.
IN ADDITION TO THE TORNADOES, THERE WERE SEVERAL REPORTS OF STRONG
STRAIGHT LINE WINDS WHICH DOWNED TREES, DESTROYED TWO MOBILE HOMES,
AND DAMAGED SEVERAL OTHER ROOFS.
THERE WERE ALSO WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN THE AREA OF 3 TO 4
INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 8 INCHES IN HEAVIER
TROPICAL RAIN BANDS. SOME LOCALIZED FLOODING WAS REPORTED. A
SEPARATE STATEMENT WAS ISSUED DETAILING THE RAINFALL REPORTS FOR
CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA/CENTRAL SAVANNAH
RIVER AREA.
