As weather systems moved across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area during the month they produced heavy rainfall at times. This produced a period of river flooding along many of the area rivers from the 13th through the 21st. These systems did produce any severe weather, just locally heavy rainfall that kept many of the streams and rivers at high flows through much of the month. Unlike September and October, November saw temperatures below normal across the region. Temperatures averaged between 2 and 3 degrees below normal. Fall 2018 (September, October, November)... It was the 3rd wettest Fall on record at both Columbia and Augusta. Even with the cooler November temperatures, it was still the 8th warmest Fall on record at Columbia and the 9th warmest on record at Augusta. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a cold front produced locally heavy rainfall on the 12th and 13th. Behind this system an area of low pressure developed along the Southeast coast and spread additional rainfall across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area. Many areas received between 2 and 4 inches of rain with some locally higher amounts. A flash flood warning was issued during the late evening hours for downtown Columbia. The heavy rainfall produced some flooding along Rocky Branch Creek. The stream gage crested at 7.78 feet, flood stage is 7.2 feet.
