26th...Seasonably cool morning across the Midlands and Central
Savannah River Area. Cool Canadian high pressure settled into the
region behind a cold front that pushed across the area late on the
25th. Morning low temperatures fell into the lower to middle 40s
across much of the region.

30th - October 1st...Impacts from Hurricane then Tropical Storm Ian
across Midlands and Central Savannah River Area. Hurricane Ian came
ashore just after 2 pm on the 30th near Georgetown, SC. The heaviest
rain fell along and north of the track of Ian across the Palmetto
state. The rainfall was much needed as much of September was
relatively dry for the month.

The outlook calls for about a 40 to 50 percent chance of above
normal temperatures along with a 33 to 40 percent chance of below
normal precipitation.


ENSO (EL NINO SOUTHERN OSCILLATION)...

...La Nina Advisory...

La Nina is present. The equatorial sea surface temperatures are
below average across much of the Pacific Ocean. The tropical Pacific
atmosphere is consistent with La Nina. La Nina is favored to
continue through the Northern Hemisphere winter 2022-2023, with a 91
percent chance through November. Then decreasing to a 54 percent
chance from January through March 2023.
