...EXTENDED NOAA WEATHER RADIO OUTAGE ON THE ROCK HILL
TRANSMITTER...

THE NOAA WEATHER RADIO ALL HAZARDS TRANSMITTER BROADCASTING FROM
ROCK HILL SOUTH CAROLINA, SERVING THE PIEDMONT OF THE CAROLINAS,
WAS DAMAGED DUE TO AN APPARENT LIGHTNING STRIKE AND HAS BEEN OFF
THE AIR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. TECHNICIANS HAVE DETERMINED THAT EXTENSIVE
REPAIRS NEED TO BE MADE BEFORE THE BROADCAST CAN BE RE-ESTABLISHED.
THIS PROCESS LIKELY WILL TAKE A FEW WEEKS. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY
INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE OUR LISTENERS IN LANCASTER AND
NORTHERN FAIRFIELD COUNTIES.

WITH ROCK HILL NOT LIKELY TO RETURN TO SERVICE UNTIL MID TO LATE
OCTOBER, LISTENERS ARE ADVISED TO TUNE THEIR RADIOS TO DIFFERENT
FREQUENCIES IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO RECEIVE WEATHER ALERTS FROM
NOAA.

AS ALWAYS, FAIRFIELD COUNTY WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE WEATHER
ALERTS FROM THE COLUMBIA, SC TRANSMITTER. HOWEVER, UNTIL THE ROCK
HILL TRANSMITTER IS FULLY REPAIRED, LANCASTER COUNTY HAS BEEN
TEMPORARILY ADDED TO THE FOLLOWING TRANSMITTERS TO RECEIVE
WEATHER ALERTS.
