...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SURVEY TEAM CONFIRMS A TORNADO IN BURKE
COUNTY THAT MOVED INTO RICHMOND COUNTY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY IN BURKE AND
RICHMOND COUNTIES. THE TORNADO DEVELOPED LAKE PEARL ROAD AND MOVED
NORTHWARD ACROSS HWY. 56 THEN CROSSING THE COUNTY LINE INTO RICHMOND
COUNTY. THE TORNADO DISSIPATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF DONE ROVEN
ROAD AND BENNOCK MILL ROAD. RESULTS DETERMINED THAT AN EF-2 TORNADO
TOUCHED DOWN WITH ESTIMATED WINDS AT 115 MPH. THE LENGTH OF THE PATH
WAS 4 MILES AND THE TORNADO WAS APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS AT ITS
WIDEST POINT. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 342 PM.

THERE WERE SEVERAL HOMES DAMAGED NEAR DONE ROVEN ROAD AND BENNOCK
MILL ROAD. A FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILER WAS OVERTURNED AND SEVERELY
DAMAGED. THERE WAS ALSO SIGNIFICANT TREE DAMAGE IN THE
AREA...ESPECIALLY TO A TREE FARM. SEVERAL TREES UPROOTED AND SNAPPED
OFF.
