AUGUSTA REGIONAL BUSH FIELD...

THE AUGUST HEAT WAVE THAT PERSISTED FOR NEARLY 3 WEEKS ACROSS THE 
MIDLANDS AND CENTRAL SAVANNAH RIVER AREA PRODUCED THE HOTTEST 
TEMPERATURES THE REGION HAS SEEN IN SEVERAL YEARS AS WELL AS THE 
HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD. THE HEAT WAVE PRODUCED 14 DAYS OF 100 
DEGREES OR HIGHER TEMPERATURES AT COLUMBIA AND 15 DAYS OF 100 
DEGREES OR HIGHER TEMPERATURES AT AUGUSTA. THERE WERE SEVERAL 
RECORDS TIED OR BROKEN THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. ALTHOUGH THE MONTHLY 
TEMPERATURES ARE NOT COMPLETE UNTIL MIDNIGHT...HERE ARE THE 
TEMPERATURES FOR COLUMBIA AND AUGUSTA.

AVERAGE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE...74.6 DEGREES

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 85.9 DEGREES BREAKS THE PREVIOUS AUGUST 
RECORD OF 85.1 DEGREES SET IN 1900. IT WAS ALSO THE 3RD WARMEST 
MONTH ON RECORD. THE WARMEST MONTH ON RECORD IS JULY 1993 WITH AN 
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 86.2 DEGREES. THE SECOND WARMEST 
MONTH ON RECORD IS JULY 1986 WITH AN AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF
