2000 Synoptic snows fell across the entire region however over the higher elevations of the Tug Hill Plateau, snow amounts reaches six to ten inches. 2003 4TH-6TH...Lake effect snow squalls began late on the fourth following a frontal passage. The activity was focused on northern Oswego and Lewis counties initially and included thunder and lightning. The band drifted south during the fifth reaching the south shore of Lake Ontario during the morning then weakened as the flow became more northwesterly. The band redeveloped overnight and then lifted north as it weakened. Reported snowfall amounts included: Scriba 15"; Oswego 14"; Fulton 12"; and West Monroe and West Leyden 9". 2006 5th-7th...A cold front swept across the area and as the cold air deepened, lake effect snows developed. Off Lake Erie, the strong westerly winds reduced visibilities to 1/2 a mile at times and pushed the lake effect snows well inland into parts of Livingston and Ontario counties. Specific snow amounts totaled during the 60-hour storm included: off Lake Erie 26" at Warsaw; 24" at South Dayton; 23" at Perrysburg; 18" at Chaffee; 12" at Angelica; and 10" at Friendship. Off Lake Ontario snow totals reported: 33" at Hooker; 16" at North Osceola; 15" at Lowville; 10" at Highmarket and 6" at West Monroe.
