Fourth of July

     PERIOD OF RECORD:   154 YEARS    (1871 - 2024)

The highest temperature recorded on the Fourth of July is 93F degrees in 2018. The lowest the mercury has fallen to on the Fourth of July is 46F in 1927. The high temperature averages 80F degrees and the low 62F degrees on the Fourth of July.

After a sunny and very warm start to Independence Day in 2004, violent thunderstorms raked metro Buffalo. These storms produced over two inches of rainfall on the city which resulted in some street and basement flooding.

A new temperature record was set for the 4th of July in 2018 when the thermometer reached 93F, breaking the old record set 30 years ago of 92F in 1988. This heat was part of a prolonged period of blistering temperatures, with Niagara Falls topping the 90F mark 7 straight days, ending July 5th. Buffalo had three days in the lower 90s as part of the heat wave.
