Bundle up! Because skies were clear and winds light, we're seeing the lowest temperatures by several degrees compared to any previous day this fall along with patchy fog. Compared to 1991-2020 (30 year normal), these are typical low temperatures during the middle of December in most locations.
While we will see plenty of sunshine in the area under high pressure, a mixture of various cloud types will be around, including some shallow stratus, fair weather cumulus over the mountains, and some cirrus clouds streaming over parts of the region. Temperatures will remain a bit below normal.
NOAA Weather Radio station WXM-44, transmitting from Mt. Ascutney, Vermont, on frequency 162.475 MHz is non-operational at this time. NWS technicians have diagnosed the problem but repairs will likely not be able to occur for quite some time due to circumstances beyond our control. Therefore, the time of return to service is currently unknown.
