Wind Advisory in Effect Today

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 AM this morning to 7 PM this evening for portions of northern New York and Vermont. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph expected. Strongest gusts will be along the northern slopes of the Adirondacks and along the shores of Lake Champlain. Southerly winds will be rising this morning along northern slopes of the Adirondacks down the the Highway 11 corridor in northern New York and along Lake Champlain and adjacent areas in northwestern Vermont. Gusts to 45 mph will be possible with potential for a few power outages, difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles, and periods of low visibility mainly in the Adirondacks during bursts of snow showers. Gustiest conditions will be between 10 AM and 4 PM.
NOAA Weather Radio station WXM-44, transmitting from Mt. Ascutney, Vermont, on frequency 162.475 MHz is non-operational at this time. NWS technicians have diagnosed the problem but repairs will likely not be able to occur for quite some time due to circumstances beyond our control. Therefore, the time of return to service is currently unknown.
