Last Map Update: Wed, Feb 18, 2026 at 1:02:16 pm CST

Unseasonable warmth more typical of May will result in minor (level 1 of 4) heat risk across much of Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley this week. Visitors and residents who are not acclimatized to the heat should take extra precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
After some morning clouds, sunshine returns to the beach, with a fresh southerly breeze continuing. That breeze has created choppy surf with a pronounced south-to-north longshore current. If venturing into the surf, stay in shallow water to avoid being pulled rapidly up the beach.
It'll continue to feel more like May than February for the remainder of the work week and into Saturday, before a front sweeps across the region and brings conditions back to what we expect for February. Other than a passing sprinkle near the coast early Sunday, no rain is expected ahead of or behind the front.
Here are the forecast high temperatures and rain chances for Deep South Texas today.
