Wanted: Photos and Video!

Significant weather events, such as Hurricane Dolly, are covered by a growing number of amateur and professional photographers and videographers as technology continues to become more affordable. For the National Weather Service, not only are the videos a great way to help explain a storm's impact, but also allow to help educate the communities we serve so we can continue to succeed in our primary mission to save lives and protect property now and in the future.

Those who would like to contribute photos and video from around the Lower Rio Grande Valley, particularly in areas hard hit by freshwater flooding or wind damage, there are a few options available:

  • Post Photos to a Gallery. Examples include Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery, or Flickr. E-mail an invite to one of the addresses below.
  • Burn a CD or DVD and send it to the address below.
  • E-mail us digital photos but only if they are of manageable file size. We request that no more than 5MB be transmitted, which is just a little larger than the today's typical 7 or 8 megapixel camera's "Large" size.
If you have any questions, e-mail the Webmaster, or the Warning Coordination Meteorologist. Please send media to the address below:
