A mainly dry and warm holiday weekend continues. Temperatures will climb toward 90 degrees over the next few days, with the heat lingering through Tuesday. The warm temperatures will bring rising water levels on area rivers and streams through the week ahead. A more unsettled pattern with daily shower and thunderstorm chances fills in the second half of the week.
Temperatures are forecast to rise near and into the 90s in many areas over the next several days, around 20 degrees above normal. Be sure to use take precautions to prevent heat related illness as you are out enjoying the holiday weekend.
As temperatures warm this weekend, high elevation snowmelt will result in increasing flows on area waterways. Be vigilant and cautious if you have plans to recreate near any water over the holiday weekend. Those living along area waterways should take precautions to protect livestock and property that may be in low lying areas adjacent to streams and rivers.
Our next chance for widespread showers and storms comes mid to late next week. Be sure to check back as we get closer to the event as details come into focus.
