Dangerous Cold Weather for Most of the Country; Rare Winter Storm for the South; Fire Weather Concerns for Southern California

Arctic air will filter south and east through early this week. As this cold air moves across the South, a rare winter storm is forecast to develop from Texas, Gulf Coast States into the Southeast through early this week. Strong crosswinds of 60 mph or greater are expected tonight through Tuesday over the foothills west of Billings, creating hazardous driving conditions. Localized blowing snow is possible as well. Interstate 90 from Livingston to Big Timber and Highway 191 from Big Timber to Harlowton and Judith Gap will be affected by these strong crosswinds. Motorists in high-profile vehicles should consider delaying travel or using alternate routes.
Winds Chills will be bitter cold again tonight. The coldest wind chills will generally occur before midnight, with warming temperatures overnight into Tuesday morning.
A warmer but active weather pattern is expected over the region this week. A quick-moving system is expected to bring light snow and areas of blowing snow to areas east of Billings Tuesday night and Wednesday. Another system is expected to bring colder air and accumulating snow Friday and Saturday. Monitor the forecast!
