There are very low chances for a severe storm or two across the southwestern Texas Panhandle on Wednesday afternoon into the evening. The primary hazards would be large hail followed by damaging wind gusts.

Watching all of the Panhandles for rain chances today, in particular starting later this morning through the afternoon and evening hours. Higher chances for rain will be in the southern TX Panhandle compared to the northern combined Panhandles. Check back for updates to the forecast throughout the day.

Looking ahead to the end of the work week, watching more of the central and eastern Panhandles for severe thunderstorm chances with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. Check back for updates to the forecast as we get closer to Friday.

Thunderstorm chances return tomorrow afternoon and last through Saturday across the High Plains. The potential for severe thunderstorms will increase during this time frame as well. Since isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected, varied rainfall totals are expected with some areas potentially seeing very little to some areas receiving an inch or more. If storms occur on Wednesday, the chances may decrease on Thursday but could increase on Friday. The rain chances will need to be monitored on a day by day basis as they will depend upon what occurs on the previous day, so stay tuned.
