Powerful Pacific Storm to Continue Impacting Northern California; Heavy Snow in the Appalachians and Portions of the Northeast

A strong atmospheric river will continue to impact northern California with heavy rain and life-threatening flooding through Friday. A long-lived supercell thunderstorm slowly tracked south to southwestward across Beaver County, OK into Hemphill County, TX.  Preliminary information suggests this storm produced up to six weak tornadoes.  Storm spotters observed and photographed several of these brief tornadoes.  Others produced minor damage, and were confirmed through NWS surveys.  Several of the tornadoes were likely obscured by heavy rain and heavy, and resulted in intermittent damage paths.  During the late evening, additional severe storms developed along an advancing cold front.  These storms produced damaging straight line winds in the Pampa, TX area.

Minor damage to an old barn as well as minor roof damage to a manufactured home.  A few outbuildings were damaged.  Tornado drifted south across US Highway 412.  This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on any new or additional information.

At least two dozen power poles were snapped with damage to a barn with the east wall and roof missing.  A center pivot irrigation system was damaged.  Additional roof and wall damage occurred to a barn and house.  This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on any new or additional information.

This tornado began in extreme eastern Roberts County where it produced light damage at a ranch house.  A barn was partially unroofed and numerous trees were damaged.  The tornado then drifted east across the Hemphill County line, generally along and just south of Red Deer Road.  It damage a second homestead approximately 7 miles west northwest of Canadian.  A metal and wood constructed barn was destroyed with all roof panels removed and most walls collapsed.  Wind estimates of 85 to 90 mph were based on damage to this particular structure.  Additional tree damage also occurred at this location.  Wind blown hail subsequently broke windows at both homes.  This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on any new or additional information.

Widespread straightline wind damage across central and east Pampa with a measured wind gust of 93 mph on the Texas Tech Mesonet station 2 miles east of Pampa.  Numerous trees and power poles were snapped.  Two trailers were rolled where two injuiries occurred.  Significant roof damage occurred to several structures across east and southeast Pampa.  This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on any new or additional information.
