The National Weather Service in Amarillo has completed a damage assessment from the downburst event in Beaver County, OK on August 9.  Damage was first discovered between County Roads 131 and 132 approximately 6 miles west of Beaver where irrigation equipment was damaged along with several outbuildings.  The sporadic path of damage continued east northeast for roughly 10 miles to about 5 miles northeast of Forgan.  Along this path, at least a dozen center pivots were damaged and several hog farm buildings were damaged.  Damage at these locations was consistent with wind speeds of approximately 100 mph.  However, one hog farm building in particular sustained significant damage to the roof, including the buckling of roof purlins which indicates winds of approximately 120 mph.  Also at this location, there were some indications of a potential anticyclonc circulation, but it is currently inconclusive as to the cause of this rotation.  Most of the damage in Beaver County occurred between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.  There were no injuries or fatalities with this event.  We would like to thank the Beaver County Emergency Management as well as members of the public for their images.  This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on any new or additional information.
