Straight line winds produced a few reports of damage across the Panhandles, particularly in Beaver County, OK and Gray County, TX. Storm surveys determined that straight line winds up to 120 mph were responsible for the damage in Beaver County near Forgan. Winds up to 90 mph were responsible for the damage near Pampa, TX. |

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has completed a damage assessment from the downburst event in Gray County, TX on August 9. Damage was first discovered at the intersection of County Road 3 and Davis Road approximately 6 miles south southwest of Pampa. The sporadic path of the damage continued east northeast for roughly 17 miles to Laketon. Along this path, at least two dozen utility poles were snapped or uprooted south and southeast of Pampa, several trees were downed, a few outbuildings and barns were destroyed, and an old wooden grain elevator was toppled in Laketon (13 miles east of Pampa). Wind speeds were estimated between 80 and 90 mph. Most of the damage in Gray County occurred between 7:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. There were no injuries or fatalities reported with this evening.
