Rainfall Amounts from October 8-9, 2016

Here are the storm total rainfall from October 8-9, 2016 across the area. The combination of the tropical moisture from Hurricane Matthew, combined with a cold front moving across the middle Atlantic, allowed for the heaviest rain to fall from North Carolina through Southeast Virginia. Some locations across the Tidewater of VA received more than 10 inches of rain for the storm total. This created considerable flooding across the region with many roads becoming impassible and some even washed out.
