New daily record high temperatures were set at Abilene and San Angelo the past few days as an unseasonably warm airmass was in place. Temperatures were twenty degrees above normal for this time of year.
There is a Marginal Risk for severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. Although widespread severe weather is not expected, showers and storms will develop and some of these storms could become strong to severe. The main hazards are lightning, damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall.
As a low pressure system moves across the region, rain chances are high (70-80%) for Wednesday night into Thursday. Excessive rainfall may result in flash flooding across the region.
High pressure will cause hot and dry conditions for today. New records may be set this afternoon across San Angelo and Abilene. Afterwards, a low pressure system will bring a cold front and a chance for rain for mid week.
