Heads up if going to the beach or out on the waters over the next few days! High surf and high seas will make for some treacherous conditions. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water! Strong Rip currents expected as well.
A band of showers is expected to move southeastward across the area for late Tuesday afternoon and early evening with showers ending from the northwest Tuesday night. A snow level of 7500 to 8000 feet will lower Tuesday night to 4500 to 5000 feet by midnight Christmas morning with a few flurries possible at elevations above 5000 feet before precipitation tapers off.
While many spots will see some rainfall on Christmas Eve, amounts will be quite light. Most will only see a few hundredths, enough to wet the ground. Elevations above 5000' may see some flakes mix in towards the end of the precipitation. Snowfall amounts should be minimal but a few spots may see a dusting.
Areas of stronger and gusty southwest to west winds are expected for the mountains and deserts for Tuesday afternoon and night. The strongest winds are expected on Tuesday from late afternoon to around midnight with the stronger gusts to 45 to 55 mph and isolated gusts to around 60 mph.
