Gusty southwest winds between 20 and 30 mph are expected across portions of the Northern Rockies on Saturday. These winds may impact recreation on area lakes, including Flathead Lake. The strongest winds—and the greatest chance for 1 to 2 foot choppy waves—will be along the western shores, particularly near Wildhorse Island. Afternoon showers may also bring erratic wind shifts. Keep in mind: water temperatures remain cold this time of year, and falling in without protective gear could lead to hypothermia. Please use caution if you're out on the water.
Moderate snow will occur in the Glacier Region Saturday night into Sunday. Expect slower travel through the US-2 corridor east of Kalispell due to slush on the roads. Between 2 and 6 inches of snow are possible in these areas. In the mountains, 6 to 10 inches of snow could fall. There is a chance that the Flathead Valley could pick up a trace to 1 inch of snow.
