Coastal Threats for the East and Gulf; Record Warmth for the Central U.S.

Persistent onshore flow across the Southeast and portions of the mid-Atlantic will keep the risk of rip currents through the weekend. Rainfall could be locally heavy across Florida, especially along the eastern shoreline. Meanwhile, record warmth for portions of the Plains and Midwest with elevated fire concerns. Showers and storms increase area-wide with scattered north and numerous near the coast Saturday, becoming more widespread Sunday. Main concerns are lightning, brief heavy downpours, and localized flash flooding near coastal areas.
Low chance of development near the Bahamas and a medium chance in the central Atlantic. While no direct local cyclone threat is expected, periods of heavy rain and minor coastal flooding remain possible this weekend. Stay tuned for updates.
