Heavy Rain and Snow to the Southwest U.S. and Alaska; Lake-effect Snow Downwind of the Great Lakes

A storm continues to produce rain and higher-elevation snow over parts of central/southern California through Monday afternoon. This system is also bringing Elevated fire weather conditions over parts of Southwest. Lake-effect snow is expected downwind from the Great Lakes, especially Lake Ontario. Overview

Severe thunderstorms impacted much of northeast and east central Kansas late afternoon into the evening hours on Monday, March 6th. These severe storms produced numerous hazards, including damaging winds, large hail, and a few brief tornadoes.
