Across the Pacific Northwest, a plume of Pacific moisture will continue to bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall to lower elevations and heavy snow to the northern Cascades into the northern Rockies through Monday. Severe Weather Preparedness Week: April 21-April 27, 2024
Sunday April 21 to Saturday April 27 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week for New York and New England. NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) in partnership with state, local, and volunteer agencies and private sector organizations urge all residents to learn how to protect themselves from the hazards of severe thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes in our area, and even flash flooding. Now is the time to prepare, before the June thru August peak of the severe weather season.
During this week, the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office New York, NY (OKX) will also issue and broadcast daily Public Information Statements according to the schedule in the table presented below:
