Most Active Year for Tornadoes Since 2013

...Active Year for Tornadoes across Middle Tennessee...

So far in 2017, a total of 14 tornadoes have been determined to
have touched down across Middle Tennessee (including both the NWS
Nashville and NWS Huntsville county warning areas). This is the
most active start for tornadoes in Middle Tennessee since 2013.

Since 1995, an average of 17 tornadoes touch down every year
across Middle Tennessee. The least number of tornadoes in a year
(since 1995) was in 2016, when only 4 were recorded across Middle
Tennessee. The most number of tornadoes in a year (since 1995)
was 38 in 2011.
