June 11, 2023 Plateau Tornadoes & Severe Storms

Severe thunderstorms struck much of the southern US and Ohio Valley during the afternoon and evening hours on June 11, 2023. Across Middle Tennessee, several supercell thunderstorms developed that produced 3 tornadoes across Fentress and Cumberland Counties, as well as many reports of large hail and damaging winds. The tornadoes were widely visible with many videos taken of them, and they caused significant damage in the Allardt, Banner Springs, and Crossville areas. These were the first tornadoes in Middle Tennessee since the tornado outbreak of March 31-April 1, 2023.

...Tornado touched down 1.7 miles south of the Jamestown Municipal
Airport near Highway 127 and traveled 10.8 miles toward the east-
northeast before lifting along Scenic Bluff Rd. just south of
Highway 52. Tornado uprooted and snapped hundreds of trees along
the near 11 mile path. Over a dozen outbuildings and barns were 
completely destroyed. Several houses sustained roof and window
damage.

...Tornado touched down near the intersection of Highway 70N and
Meadow Creek in Crossville and lifted immediately before reaching Highway
127 just north of I-40. One house was slid completely off its 
foundation and several other outbuildings were damaged. One hotel
received minor roof damage.

...Tornado touched down west of the intersection of Bicknell Rd. and
Leamon Hall Rd. and traveled toward the ENE for 1.8 miles before
lifting northeast of the intersection of Roslin Rd. and Banner
Springs Rd. Dozens of trees were uprooted and snapped causing
damage to two homes and a few outbuildings.
