Overview

Widespread snow affected Middle Tennessee during the day on Thursday, January 6, 2022. Many locations received several inches of snowfall, especially areas along and north of I-40. South of I-40, especially near the Alabama border, warmer air aloft kept precipitation as a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow, with much lower accumulations of snow along with a light glaze of ice. With temperatures well below freezing throughout Middle Tennessee, hazardous travel conditions developed that continued into the following Saturday.
