Public Information Statement National Weather Service Nashville, TN 252 PM CST Thu Jan 9 2020 ...NWS Damage Survey for December 16, 2019 Tornado Event... ...After much investigation and surveying, NWS Nashville determined two brief EF-0 Tornadoes touched down in Southern Middle Tennessee on the evening of December 16, 2019... .Piney Community/Lawrence County EF-0 Tornado... Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 MPH Path length /Statute/: 3.76 Miles Path width /Maximum/: 25 Yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start date: December 16, 2019 Start time: 455 PM CST Start location: 10 Miles W of Lawrenceburg Start Lat/Lon: 35.269/-87.519 End date: December 16, 2019 Start time: 459 PM CST End location: 7 Miles WNW of Lawrenceburg End_lat/lon: 35.288/-87.457 Survey Summary: The tornado touched down near the intersection of Buck Branch Rd and Piney Rd where the front porch and part of the roof was ripped off one house. The toilet in the house was uplifted approximately one foot above the flooring with the plumbing still attached. No evidence of the house shifting on the foundation was found. As the tornado traveled northeastward, the tornado caused sporadic tree damage along with collapsing a large farm outbuilding on Granddaddy Rd. One house on Grandaddy Rd also had a large number of shingles removed along with approximately ten pines uprooted. The tornado continued to damage and uproot trees until it crossed Kelso Rd where an outbuilding sustained roof damage. The tornado dissipated before it reached Shotwell Rd. .Cornersville/Marshall County EF-0 Tornado... Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 MPH Path length /Statute/: 3.45 Miles Path width /Maximum/: 50 Yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start date: December 16, 2019 Start time: 543 PM CST Start location: 1 Mile East of Cornersville Start Lat/Lon: 35.361/-86.823 End date: December 16, 2019 End time: 547 PM CST End location: 4 Miles East of Cornersville End_lat/lon: 35.371/-86.763 Survey Summary: The tornado touched down along Hatchet Hollow Rd and traveled eastward uprooting trees sporadically. Tree damage was more significant along Yell Rd where a 50 yard section of a tree line was uprooted or snapped. The tornado collapsed an outbuilding on Bivins Rd and removed a large number of shingles on a house. A nearby metal carport had the metal roofing and siding removed as well before the tornado lifted prior to crossing Monte Murrey Rd.
