Powerful Pacific System Impacting the West; First Significant Snow for Portions of the East

Power Pacific system will continue to bring significant impacts for Pacific Northwest into northern California the remainder of the week. Dangerous coastal affects, heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow continues. Strong and damaging southerly winds are forecast to develop tonight. Wind gusts from 45 to 65 mph are expected along the coast and across the interior mountains. Saturated soil will increase the threat for falling trees. Watch out for falling tree branches and debris on the roads. Prepare for power outages.
Life-Threatening Flooding Potential. A Flood Watch is in effect from 4 AM Wednesday into Friday across much of the forecast area to a forecast with prolonged periods of moderate to heavy rain. A rapid rises of rivers, creeks, and streams are expected, along with high water water in low lying & poor drainage areas.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for portions of Trinity County above 2000 feet until 10 PM Thursday, and above 3500 feet. Snow accumulations of up to 1 to 2 feet above 3500 ft. Travel will continue to be hazardous today from flooded roads. Slow down and allow extra time for travel today and do not drive through flooded roads.
