LOCATION...SOUTH OF ORRVILLE...WAYNE COUNTY...OHIO DATE...AUGUST 7 2013 ESTIMATED TIME...APPROXIMATELY 3 PM EDT MAXIMUM EF-SCALE RATING...EF1 ESTIMATED MAXIMUM WIND SPEED...95 MPH MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH...50 YARDS PATH LENGTH...1 MILE BEGINNING LAT/LON...40.808N / -81.800W ENDING LAT/LON......40.804N / -81.786W *THE INFORMATION IN THIS STATEMENT IS PRELIMINARY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING FINAL REVIEW OF THE EVENTS AND PUBLICATION IN NWS STORM DATA. .SUMMARY... A STORM SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED NEAR ORRVILLE IN WAYNE COUNTY OHIO. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN A CORN FIELD NORTHEAST OF THE INTERSECTION OF MCQUAID ROAD AND SWINEHART ROAD. THE TORNADO TRACKED SOUTHEAST WITH INTERMITTENT DAMAGE AND LIFTED NEAR NORTH CARR ROAD. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED TO A HOME WHERE A LARGE PORTION OF THE ROOF WAS LIFTED OFF AND BLOWN INTO AN ADJACENT FIELD. THERE WAS ALSO HARDWOOD TREES UPROOTED AND CORN CROPS THAT HAD BEEN FLATTENED.
Hail reports were received from severe thunderstorms in Seneca, Wayne, Stark, and Holmes counties. The above pictures are courtesy a resident of Stark County relayed by the Emergency Manager. One inch hail, the size of a quarter, is shown in these pictures.
