NWS Charleston, SC - NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards
NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards
NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards
is a service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which is a branch of the
Department of Commerce. NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards provides continuous broadcasts of the latest weather
information directly from the National Weather Service (NWS) offices across the country. Information on civil
emergencies is also broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards.
When severe weather occurs, the routine broadcasting will be interrupted to provide the
listener with frequent updates on severe weather warnings or statements for your area.
When a severe weather warning is issued for your area, a weather tone will alert on
specially built receivers, with warning and safety information following directly after the tone.
NOAA weather radio broadcasts are made on one of seven high-band FM frequencies ranging
from 162.40 to 162.55 MHz. These frequencies are usually not found on the average radio,
but require a special receiver to pick up the broadcasts. More information can be found at the
NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards website.
