Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Watches for the North Carolina Outer Banks; Hot in the Mississippi Valley

Tropical Storm conditions and coastal flooding are possible in the North Carolina Outer Banks beginning late Wednesday. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Watches are in effect. Hurricane Erin is expected to bring life threatening surf and rip currents along the East Coast beaches this week. The western side of a strong mid-level high pressure system centered over the Four Corners will result in weaker onshore winds to temporarily light offshore winds, warmer to hotter temperatures and pockets of Moderate HeatRisk across the interior. At this time the hottest temperatures are forecast to be farthest inland Thursday and Friday, however be sure to check back for any updates to the forecast through the week.
