Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southern Plains; Heat Continues in the West

Strong to severe thunderstorms may bring areas of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the southern Plains today through Friday. Hot to dangerously hot temperatures are forecast across portions of the Pacific Northwest and southern Great Basin today. An unsettled pattern continues through mid-week, with isolated storms possible Tuesday, and more widespread thunderstorms on Wednesday. Storms that develop on Wednesday, especially those across northern Utah and southwest Wyoming, will be capable of producing isolated severe wind gusts, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Otherwise, after a brief pause in the warming trend Thursday, much drier and warmer conditions prevail through the end of the week.
🌩️There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for severe storms Wednesday afternoon across portions of northern Utah and southwest Wyoming. Any storms that develop over this area will be capable of producing isolated damaging winds, small to medium size hail (except areas near the ID border where there is a low chance for hail up to 1"), and frequent lightning. Remain weather aware if plans take you outdoors on Wednesday!
