Dangerous Heat in the Central and Eastern U.S.; Severe Thunderstorms in the Plains to the Upper Midwest

A significant and dangerous heat wave will expand from the Central U.S. into the Eastern U.S and linger through much of the work week. Numerous daily record highs and warm lows are likely. A windy and dry day is on the way for northeast Arizona. Critical fire weather is forecast and a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM MST / Noon MDT until 8 PM MST / 9 PM MDT this evening for northeast Arizona.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for northeast Arizona today. Conditions are ripe for rapid fire spread. Take precautions such as no activities that include open flames, don't park on dry grass, dispose of cigarettes properly or no outdoor equipment that could produce sparks.
Look for another windy day today, especially across northeast Arizona where a Red Flag Warning is in effect. Expect lighter winds the rest of the week but remaining breezy. A bit of moisture will sneak in from the east over the coming days delivering a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms across eastern Arizona starting Tuesday.
